Holland America Line or HAL is an excellent example of what to do correctly in cruise industry. HAL falls into the premium lines of cruise categories. They have a very storied career, starting as a shipping and passenger line back in 1873 and eventually becoming the power house of the premium cruise line you see today.

Holland America Line has a fleet of 15 ships that travel worldwide visiting more than 350 ports. They stay up to date with the changing times by renovating their ships quite frequently. Keeping with the premium cruise line, they lavish the cruise ships with top of the line staterooms, decorations and cuisine. HAL’s tag line is “Signature of Excellence,” which is exactly correct. They will go above and beyond to make your experience on board one of the most memorable vacations you will ever have. With nearly a 2 to 1 ratio of cruise guests to crew members Holland America Line surely is in a class of its own and plans to stay there with many years to come.

With Holland America Line being in the premium category, you will still have occasional formal nights for everyone to get dressed up and enjoy themselves on board. If you want a small ship with under 1,000 guest look no further than the ms Prinsendam, or if you want a larger feeling ship where you can get lost while on board then looking in the newest vessel, the ms Nieuw Amsterdam.
