ms Maasdam

ms Maasdam: Overview
Holland America Line Review

Holland America‘s ms Maasdam gets its name from the Maas River in the Netherlands. Over HAL’s long history, this is the fifth time a ship has taken the name ms Maasdam and won’t be the last. The make up of this ship is to give the guests extreme comfort. To do this the 720 foot ship carries fewer guests (1,258) than some of the larger ships in the HAL fleet like the ms Eurodam. Majority of the staterooms will give you a magnificent ocean view, while the verandahs will have their own private balconies to help the guests relax.

Like the other ships, the ms Maasdam’s interior recalls decor of the historical West India and Dutch East companies from the 17th to 19th century. One of the most eye catching pieces of art on the ship is Luciano Vistosi’s “Totem,” a tremendous sculpture using a staggering 2,000 shining pieces of glass. This will be seen by every guest hanging in the three story atrium.

On board the ms Maasdam are the other luxuries that guest have become accustomed to with the Holland America brand. Comfortable rooms, spacious public rooms, entertainment facilities for adults and kids and culinary restaurants to die for. you will surely not be disappointed when selecting the ms Maasdam for your next getaway.

ms Maasdam: Dress Code
Holland America Line Review

You should pack some nice clothes, but always have more comfortable items to wear during the day time and when you are in port. This would include shorts, sports wear, swim suits or sun dresses. The only thing Holland America asks, is if you do use the pool, use a cover up while traveling between your room and the swimming pool.

When dinner approaches you will need 3 options of clothes to wear. HAL will give you a daily update on what the dinner attire will be, please follow this as all the other guests will be doing this. There are three categories that you must have. The first will be a form of casual attire. Items to be worn by men would be slacks and a polo shirt, while women are able to wear a sun dress if they desire. The informal nights require men to wear a button up shirt with a jacket. They do not need to wear a tie, unless they want to. Women will wear a pants suit or dress. The formal nights bring with it a traditional elegance from years past. Men should wear a suit with a tie or a tuxedo if they wish. women should wear a cocktail dress or gown.

ms Maasdam: Gratuity
Holland America line Review

When boarding HAL will set up an account for your cabin that you may charge all of your purchases to. This is to make things easier on your trip so that you don’t always have to deal with cash or charge. You will be able to settle the full bill at the end of the journey. For dining passengers will be automatically charged a gratuity of $10 per person, per day. If you use bar or wine services, a 15% charge will be added to your account. If you wish to tip extra you may do so where you feel appropriate.
