ms Oosterdam: Overview
Holland America Line Review

The ms Oosterdam entered service in 2003 and is another vessel in the Holland America Vista class. This means it will have the diesel electric power plant for better fuel efficiency and the Azipod propulsion system, which will maximize the ability the ship will maneuver.

The ms Oosterdam is what a quintessential HAL ship looks like on the interior. It focuses on the rich history of the Dutch cruise line centered around the three story atrium with an amazing Waterford crystal globe. Throughout the ship you will find the other warm art styles on the walls, along with inlaid wood and brass to complement the wraparound teak deck with comfortable padded lounge chairs.

Along with the plush suites, delicious restaurants and on board activities, the ms Oosterdam will be a home away from home while you are on your cruise adventure. With the Digital Workshop and art tour to keep you entertained at sea, expect the usual from HAL, which is great quality for a reasonable price.

ms Oosterdam: Dress Code
Holland America Line Review

Like all other HAL ships, the ms Oosterdam is the same wanting you to be comfortable during the day and some restrictions at night when dining.

During the day feel free to wear shorts, sports wear, swim suits, sun dresses or t-shirts. Don’t forget a jacket since it can get cold at sea some days. The only thing HAL asks from its guests, is that when walking the hallways from the pool to their room or to any other area of the ship.

The attire for dinner will be either causal, informal or formal. You will be notified in the morning what type of evening wear you will need.

ms Oosterdam: Gratuity
Holland America Line Review

Like most cruise lines, HAL will establish a chargeable account with your cabin number. This way you will not need to use cash or credit cards while on board. You can simply charge all purchases to your cabin and settle the bill before you disembark.

For dining at $10 fee will be automatically charged to your account per person, per day. If you use the bar for alcohol, then a 15% charge will be billed to your account.

If you wish to tip some extra cash on the side you may do that where you feel it is deserved.
