ms Rotterdam: Overview
Holland America Line Review

Considered on of the classic cruise ships in the Holland America fleet, the ms Rotterdam defines your experiences with its spacious, beautifully decorated public areas. Recently in 2009, the ms Rotterdam went through a “Signature of Excellence” enhancement upgrade.

Guest will feel very at ease while on board the ms Rotterdam. The spacious staterooms with state of the art amenities will make your time at sea delightful, especially with many of them having their own private verandah. If you look to do some exploring the $2 million art and antique collection throughout the ship will stun you.

ms Rotterdam: Dress Code
Holland America Line Review

When cruising you should pack any comfortable clothes that you have. This is very true with HAL and their on board attire. During the day you may wear relaxing clothes like sports wear, shorts, swim suits, sun dresses or things of that nature. The only special requirement HAL asks of its passengers, is that when you are coming from or going to the pool to wear a cover up in the hallways.

The dining requirements will be announced to you daily. There are 3 categories that dinnerware falls into, casual, informal and formal. Formal nights will happen a minimum of twice per week. Below are examples of what to expect the other guests on board to be wearing.

Atrium

Casual: women can wear a dress and men can wear a polo with nice slacks.

Informal: women can wear a pants suit or dress and men can wear a button up shirt with slacks and a jacket (no need for a tie).

Formal: women can wear a cocktail dress or a gown and men can wear a tuxedo or suit with a tie.

ms Rotterdam: Gratuity
Holland America Line Review

HAL uses a charge account to your cabin for passengers on board. This way you won’t have to carry cash or a credit card to all the restaurants or shops on board. When you are done with your vacation you will settle the account.

For dining there will be an automatic charge of $10 per person per day for gratuity. If you want alcohol or us the wine bar, a 15% charge will be added to the account for gratuity.

If you wish to tip extra to anyone of the crew members, please feel free to do so where you think it is deserved.
