Holland America Line Review

Holland America Line’s ms Statendam arrived to the fleet in 1993. This 1,260 passenger vessel can also hold 580 crew members. Since its creation the ms Statendam has gone through a refurbishing in 2007 to add more elegant and updated features.

The ms Statendam features various artworks and rare artifacts throughout the ship valuing at more than $2 million. The three-story atrium is a work of art in itself named “Fountain of the Siren” is elaborate sculpture standing 26 feet high. You are sure to enjoy your stay aboard this classic style ship, even with all of the new state of the art improvements.

During your cruise vacation on the ms Statendam, you will have a mixture of children to retirees. Kids will be more prevalent during the summer months and times they aren’t in school.

The first thing you should be thinking about while on a cruise vacation is comfort. Make sure to pack for the days you will be just lounging around the deck while at sea or for the days you are in port. This attire can be shorts, sun dresses, pants, swimsuit or sports wear. You won’t need anything formal until dinner, but HAL will give you a daily itinerary of what to wear to dinner (examples below). During the day when you are dressing for comfort, Holland America Line only asks that while going from your cabin to the pool to use a cover up while in the hallways.

ms Statendam Casual Dinner Attire – Dress attire for men may include slacks and a polo shirt, while women should wear a sun dress or something similar.

ms Statendam Informal Dinner Attire – A button up shirt, slacks and a jacket will be suitable for me to wear (a tie is not necessary, but can be worn). Women are suggested to wear a dress or pants suit.

ms Statendam Formal Dinner Attire – Men should be wearing either a suit and tie or they can choose to wear a tuxedo. During this time women will be wearing a cocktail dress or a gown if they choose.

Holland America line Review

During your cruise vacation on the ms Statendam you will not be using cash for any purchases or tips aboard the vessel. You will give a credit card and charge any purchases to your cabin. Major credit cards like American Express, MasterCard and Visa are accepted and you will settle your account at the end of the cruise vacation. You will be charged $10 per person, per day for gratuities on the ms Statendam. this will cover all of your tips for the wait staff, unless you use the bar or wine services, then a 15% charge will be added to your account. If you feel service went above any beyond what you expected, you may tip additional money if you want to.
